The final deadline to apply to the Digital Arts 4-year program is fast approaching: January 26th, 2024, 12:00 pm CET for October 2024 entry.
Based at the University of Applied Arts Vienna, the Digital Arts Department is an open platform, and a safe-enough space for radical experiments with and beyond contemporary digital media in an artistic context. The Digital Arts program is free of charge. No prior formal education necessary!
The 4-year study program is run as a Diploma program (equivalent to a MFA) and classes are held in German, English and Python. No German proficiency required for admissions. We specifically encourage students from far abroad and beyond as well as students with disabilities / neurodivergence. We offer assistance through our international office and our inhouse student counselor. Applications from groups and collectives are welcome.
The department offers customizable spaces, state-of-the-art technical equipment, passionate people, and inclusive access to new worlds and realities. Present and future facets of art, entertainment, and science are imagined, discussed, and subversively applied. We value collaboration, communication, divergence, risk-taking, and openness. We are shaping reality, together. Hyper-contemporary.
The artist collective UBERMORGEN head the Digital Arts program, they are a synthesis of neurodiversity with autistic actionist lizvlx (Prof. Liz Haas) and pragmatic hyperactive-visionary Prof. Luzius Bernhard. They are net.art pioneers, media hackers, online actionists and digital haute couturiers, infamous for their polarizing social experiments and radical research. Artfacts call their work ‘Ultra Contemporary’, CNN calls them ‘Maverick Austrian Businesspeople’.
